Irvine, CA ... The city has an Amtrak / Metrolink station and a small section of former Santa Fe branchline that comes out of the Irvine Industrial Center in Tustin. BNSF serves one customer on the branchline. The Metrolink station is off of Alton and is designed in a modern fashion, but pretty typical of a Orange County Metrolink station. Similar in design to the Tustin Metrolink station. As mentioned, the BNSF has a sliver of industrial trackage that branches into Irvine from the Metrolink's Orange Sub in Tustin, CA. While most of the branch resides in Tustin, it is often referred to as the Irvine Industrial Center or Irvine Industrial Lead. This branch is now served by the BNSF's 5th La Mirada local in the early AM hours usually once a week, but was previously switched by the 1st La Mirada local two or three times a week and done during the daylight morning or afternoon. A lot has changed for this road switcher.

Dispite Irvine's raging take on modern buildings and high tech business, the railroad equipment on this branch has not seen any recent upgrade. This crossing is for Armstrong Ave. Another shot of the crossing signal at Armstrong Ave. A former rail customer at Armstrong Ave. Last time I was in this area, the building was up for lease.
